Website Developments
30 April 2008 | News, Pupil, Website | No Responses
Over the past few weeks there have been two occasions when the school website has been subject to hacking attempts. Both times we have temporarily taken the site offline to prevent hours of hard work being destroyed.
In order to ensure this doesn’t happen again we intend to make some behind the scenes changes over the next fortnight. During this time we will be replacing the site with a holding page containing an explanation for the site’s removal and this – the News Blog.
As soon as the changes have been made and the site is fully secure the St. Andrew’s School website will return with its full content.
Aylmerton Residential Visit 2008
28 April 2008 | News | No Responses
Pictures from the Aylmerton Residential Visit are now viewable on the Gallery page of the site. A great time was had during a fun packed long-weekend which included cliff studies, Norwich Cathedral, Norwich Castle, a disco, a Twilight Safari, a swimming session at the local wave pool, a boat trip to see the seals and a beach walk looking for birds and semi-precious stones and much more…
Future visits of this type will depend on the numbers we can take – all centres have a ‘minimum number’ policy. We hope that similar visits in the coming years will be well subscribed to so that they can continue to take place.
Take 10
25 April 2008 | News | No Responses
For the past year every pupil at St. Andrew’s has taken part in Take 10 twice a week. Take 10 is a series of short aerobic routines designed for KS1 and KS2 children. The accompanying DVDs are played through the projector in the hall and everyone (including staff!) joins in.

Take 10 focuses on aerobic fitness and co-ordination and is part of our commitment to improve the fitness of our pupils, retain our Healthy School and Activemark awards and meet the Governments targets for physical activity in Primary Schools.
Cricket Coaching Returns
23 April 2008 | News | No Responses
After working with Courtauld Class earlier in the year the coach from Essex County Cricket Board (ECCB) has returned to St. Andrew’s, this time to work with Holst. Unlike during the test matches rain did not stop play this afternoon and an indoor skills and kwik cricket tournament was enjoyed by all the children.

The coaching sessions from the ECCB coach will continue until half term.

Appeals Meeting
3 April 2008 | News | No Responses
St. Andrew’s is a popular and growing school and because our admissions number for each year group is twenty, which is set by the LEA, there is a probability this year that St. Andrew’s will be over subscribed. You will be informed by the LEA of their decision for your child round about 4th April. Please refer to the admission criteria on the school website (under admissions).
There is an appeals process available to you and therefore if you would like advice and guidance on your potential ‘next steps’ please attend a meeting at the school on Tuesday, 8th April 2008 at 7.00pm. A member of the LEA admission staff and the Headteacher will be in attendance. Please pass this information on to anyone who may be concerned.
