‘Merry Christmas Everyone’

A Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all, from all the pupils, staff and governors of St Andrew’s.  We return to school on Monday 4th January.

January Toy Sale

We will be having a ‘Toy sale’ on Friday 15th January to raise funds for the PTA.  Please keep your unwanted toys, books, games etc and deposit them in school after the Christmas Holidays.  Thank you!

‘Friends of St Andrew’s’

We are very pleased to announce that a new PTA (Friends of St Andrew’s) has been formed and have elected a Chair (Ms Lilley), Vice Chair (Mrs Tosh) and will therefore commence organising events for the Spring term.  However the group do need a few more regular members to attend each meeting otherwise the group will not be large enough to be sustainable in the long term.  Dates of future PTA meetings will be set in the New Year.  It was regrettable that all the usual PTA events and activities for the children and families were not able to happen this term and were missed by us all.

African & Calypso Drumming

On the 10th and 11th December, Vincent Salfsaaz, a creative practitioner with the Royal Opera House Creative Partnership (ROHCP), joined us for the second week to teach the children and adults African and Calypso music. It was a new learning experience for both pupils and staff.

BAD WEATHER PROCEDURE

PLEASE LISTEN TO BBC ESSEX FOR RADIO REPORTS
NEWS OF CLOSURE WILL ALSO APPEAR ON THE FRONT PAGE OF THE SCHOOL WEBSITE

Christmas Production – ‘Face Up’

The Christmas production this year was a huge success and we would like to give a big thank you to all the pupils for their wonderful performances. Thanks must also go to Mr. Hart and all the staff. Money raised from the collections will go towards paying for the lights and programmes.

‘Christmas Show – Face-Up’

All children need to be back in school for the evening performances of ‘Face Up’ at 6.30pm and not before – Thank you!  Don’t forget your tickets (available from the school office) if you have not already collected them.

‘Cold Weather’

It is important that your child has appropriate clothing for outside play i.e. jumper and coat in the winter months.  We have asked children to be responsible for wearing coats, etc and, of course, we will remind them to do so when outside.  We both have a duty of care for the health and well being of the children in our care.  Thank you!

‘Maths Family Learning’

Thank you for supporting the Maths Calculation Parents Evening.  If you were unable to attend there is a Calculation booklet available in the foyer.  As always, if you have any queries or concerns about how to support your child with their maths calculation, then please speak with your child’s class teacher.

Maths Family Learning – If you were able to attend the Calculation Evening you will know more about the course and may have already completed the enrolment slip.  If you are keen to develop your own maths learning and to work alongside your child, please complete and return the enrolment slip by the 14th December.  Judith Fantousi, who will be working with you over the ten weeks, will be in school on Monday, 14th December at 9.00am for an informal ‘chat and coffee’ session about the course and to answer any questions you might have.  Do not be deterred by lack of childcare, the learning will take place on Wednesday afternoons and the Family Learning providers can organise free childcare for the afternoon for younger siblings, which will take place in Acorns pre school.  Please do come along and find out more!
